Diabetes Self-Management Classes
McCready Memorial Hospital holds its next series of Diabetes Self Management Education classes in July.Sessions will be held from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the McCready Outpatient Center.

The classes -- endorsed by American Diabetes Association -- are covered by most health insurance plans, including Medicare, but participants need a physician’s prescription to enroll.
The "Diabetes Self Management Education" course shows diabetics the skills they need to manage the disease.
The four-week course covers how food, medications, exercise and emotions affect daily blood sugar levels.
It is taught by a team of specially trained diabetes educators -- Sandy Sturgis, a Registered Nurse, and Registered Dietitian Terry Passano.
Participants will be helped to devise individual, personalized plans for self management.
