Marion Station Man Heads McCready Foundation
Untitled Document
Crisfield – The Board of Directors of the McCready Foundation has appointed Robert M. Jones of Marion Station to the post of CEO following the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Charles F. Pinkerman on October 1. The foundation includes McCready Memorial Hospital, the McCready Outpatient Center physicians offices, the Alice B. Tawes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the soon-to-open Chesapeake Cove Assisted Living Center.
Board chairman Chris Sterling, who made the announcement, said that Jones has been affiliated with the McCready Foundation for eight years as a board member. He served as its vice chairman and three years as chairman as well as heading several critical board committees.
“Mr. Jones was instrumental in developing the foundation’s long range plan, including the construction of the new replacement facility for its original nursing home,” Sterling said. “We look forward to continuing progress and development in coming months as he takes the helm.”
Jones has a long professional history as an executive in the health and hospital field. He has held numerous administrative and consulting positions including with Johns Hopkins and a dozen other hospital organizations from Maine to Virginia. He was chief executive officer of Tuxedo Memorial Hospital in New York and of Rockville General Hospital in Connecticut, both of which he guided through major changes in their missions. Several years ago he retired from his last position as director of surgical services at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Jones is a retired diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a past member of the Legislative and Regulations Committee of the Maryland Hospital Association. He has a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and an M.B.A. from George Washington University.
Jones’ community activities include serving on the speaker’s bureau of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and as a docent at St. Michaels Maritime Museum. He is a former commodore of the Somers Cove Yacht Club and was an instructor in its youth sailing program. He and his wife Meg have two children and four grandchildren.
