"HCAHPS"

When you speak with health care professionals at McCready, you may hear them use the term H-Caps. It's an acronym for “Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.”

HCAHPS is a 27-question survey that asks patients – after they have left McCready Hospital – about the quality of care they received during their stay. The survey covers a variety of questions; one such is as how well a doctor or nurse listened to you as a patient.  It is designed to be an independent, objective look at patients’ experiences while they were in the hospital.

We share this information with you and our community by voluntarily posting our initial results from the HCAHPS survey to a Web site called Hospital Compare maintained by the federal department of Health and Human Services.

We participate in this national HCAHPS program because we believe that improving quality of care in our hospital is an on-going process and we are always looking for ways to do our jobs better.

We pledge to use information from the HCAHPS survey to evaluate the care we provide and find ways to address all of our patients’ healthcare needs.

If you have questions about the HCAHPS survey or McCready’s Hospital Compare information, contact Patient Care Coordinator Lori Ward at (410) 968-1200 (ext. 3425).
