McCready Memorial Hospital, under the direction of Dr. Michael R. Atkins offers comprehensive, convenient occupational health services to area employers. These include drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment and DOT physicals.
There is also a full complement of Workmen's Compensation services for workers injured on the job. Among them are 24-hour emergency care by emergency medicine physicians, 24-hour laboratory and imaging services, surgery, and on-site physical therapy.
 Dr. Atkins is board certified in Internal Medicine. He is certified as a Medical Review Officer by the American Association of Medical Review Officers. The latter certification qualifies him to oversee drug and alcohol testing and aid local employers in complying with federal DOT testing requirements. He is also available to consult with employers on the testing results and to testify at trial should the results be disputed.
Dr. Atkins, together with board certified Internal Medicine specialist Dr. Vijay Karumbunathan, diagnose and prescribe treatment for work-related injuries. They also perform employment physicals, including vision and hearing screenings.
A general surgery specialist is always at the hospital or on call. Other physicians specializing in cardiology and various medical and surgical fields are also available to diagnose and treat work- related injuries. We have certified respiratory therapists who do pulmonary function testing as well.
