Your physician has ordered a Pulmonary Function TestA Pulmonary Function Test gauges how well you move air in and out of your lungs, and how well oxygen enters your body.
This simple, painless procedure measures lung-volume capacities, air-flow rate and gas exchange.
A PFT compares your ability to breathe with national standards that show how well your lungs work. The test provides information to help diagnose lung disorders, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, emphysema and sarcoidosis, among others.
