Our Medical Staff

McCready Memorial Hospital’s staff physicians have offices in the Outpatient Center attached to the administration building. The hospital employs these physicians to make local medical care available to Crisfield and the surrounding area. Get to know our doctors and physician assistant, their specialties, office hours and information on how to make appointments with them.

Internal Medicine & Occupational Health

Dr. Mike Atkins

Michael Atkins, M.D.
Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday , 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m.-noon, 410 968-1801.
Dr. Atkins is board certified in Internal Medicine and is certified as a Medical Review Officer by the American Association of Medical Review Officers. He is a family physician and director of the occupational medicine program serving local business and industry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the Medical Center of Delaware, Christiana and Wilmington hospitals.

Dr. Vijay Karumbunathan


Vijay Karumbunathan, M.D.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 410 968-1801.
Dr. "Vijay" is board certified in Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in India and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center where he was chief resident. He is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine and an associate member of the American College of Physicians.

Jon R. Beacher, MD

Jon R. Beacher, M.D., FCCP
Hours:
(Crisfield) Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; (Coming in 2010 - Princess Anne) Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., 410 968-1801.
Dr. Beacher is a pulmonology, critical care and sleep medicine specialist. He sees patients with respiratory disorders and coordinates smoking cessation strategies. He has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of patients with lung cancer. He earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago School of Medicine. He has completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Rush Presbyterian - St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York University and Rush Presbyterian - St. Luke's medical centers.

Becky Ilgen

Rebecca Ilgen, PA-C
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m.-noon, 410 968-1801.
Ms. Ilgen is board certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a graduate of the Physician Assistants program at Pennsylvania State University. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the Maryland Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
General Surgery
 

Dr. Sidney Barnes

Sidney Barnes III, M.D., F.A.C.S. 
Monday through Friday (office hours vary), 410 968-1801.
Dr. Barnes is McCready Memorial Hospital's full-time general surgeon. He is board certified in general surgery, a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and an American College of Surgeons' Fellow.
His medical degree is from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and general surgery residency at the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Radiology 

Mary Lynne Everett, M.D.
Dr. Everett is Medical Director of McCready's imaging department. She supervises its operations and technical staff, and interprets test results for patients’ physicians. She is board certified in radiology in Germany and the U.S. Dr. Everett received her medical degree from the University of Munich and completed a radiology residency and an internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
Anesthesiology 

Dr. Noemi Salang

 

Noemi Salang, M.D.
Dr. Salang is McCready Hospital’s full-time anesthesiologist. She is board eligible in anesthesiology. She earned her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas, the Catholic University of the Philippines. She interned at Brooklyn Hospital and served an anesthesiology residency at Boston Medical Center. She also participated in the Fellowship in Pain Management program at the University of Maryland.

Emergency Medicine

McCready Memorial Hospital's emergency department is staffed by physicians with Emergency Service Associates, a group practice specializing in emergency medicine that also serves two other local hospitals and Salisbury University's health center. An emergency physician is available around the clock in McCready's E.R.
