McCready Foundation Building a Healthy Community One Person at a Time

Opportunities for Volunteers

If you enjoy clerical work, helping with projects, working with the elderly or just want to help other people in your community, McCready has a volunteer opportunity for you in the McCready Memorial Hospital or the Alice B. Tawes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Becoming a McCready volunteer requires just a few hours of your time on a schedule that suits you. Volunteers who enjoy traveling don't have to make a year-long commitment. We also welcome volunteers who live in the Crisfield area part-time.

Our staff will give you the training and support you need. In addition, as a volunteer, you will enjoy interacting and socializing with other volunteers and staff members.

Reception desk volunteers are stationed in the hospital's main lobby, where they greet visitors and arriving patients. Reception desk volunteers usually volunteer during the morning and in the early afternoons.

Hospital departmental volunteers are stationed in various areas including the medical-surgical unit, the outpatient center as well as administrative offices.

Nursing-home volunteers visit with residents, read to them, assist staff members with residents' activities, including crafts, games or letter writing, and assist with transporting clients in their wheelchairs.

If yu are interested contact us at 410-968-9225 for an application packet. Background checks, health physicals and drug and alcohol tests are required prior to volunteering at McCready at no cost to you.

Teens are also welcomed. Volunteer with us in the summer, during school breaks or in the evenings.
