If you enjoy clerical work, organizing fund-raising projects, working with the elderly or just want to help other people in your community, McCready has a volunteer opportunity for you.
Becoming a McCready volunteer requires just a few hours of your time on a schedule that suits you. Volunteers who enjoy traveling don't have to make a year-long commitment. We also welcome volunteers who live in the Crisfield area part-time.
Volunteers must be adults age 18 or over.
Depending on the type of volunteer position you assume, our volunteer coordinator, our activities director, our education coordinator and other members of our staff will give you the training and support you need. In addition, as a volunteer, you will enjoy interacting and socializing with other volunteers and staff members.
We have openings for volunteers in McCready Memorial Hospital and at the Alice B. Tawes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Our auxiliaries also welcome new volunteers members. Our Board of Directors annually recruit new members to guide and govern the McCready Foundation.
Reception desk volunteers are stationed in the hospital's main lobby, where they greet visitors and arriving patients. Reception desk volunteers usually volunteer during the morning and in the early afternoons.
Hospital departmental volunteers are stationed in various areas including the medical-surgical unit, the emergency department as well as administrative offices. Depending on their assignments, volunteers may also require special training.
Nursing-home volunteers visit with residents, read to them, play the piano for special occasions and assist staff members with residents' activities, including crafts, games or letter writing.
