Making McCready greener
During the 2009 Girl Scout cookie-sale drive, members of Brownie Troop 111 based in Crisfield found lots of support for the annual cause at McCready.
The troop, under the direction of Sarah Ward and MaryBeth Bradshaw, wanted to express its appreciation by donating a tree to the McCready Foundation.

In late April, 13 girls and their parents participated in an informal ceremony near the McCready monument at the entrance of the property, where a Chanticleer Pear sapling now stands proudly.
"This is our way of trying to make the world a better place," Mrs. Ward said. "This is a landmark in the community where everybody can come by and see it."
Just below the surface of the lush green grass, the Brownies were surprised to discover the rich soil on Cork Point is also home to earthworms.
Afterwards, the troop posed for photos to say "thank you" to everyone in the community who bought the popular baked goodies and made the sale a success.
